YU Miao grew up in China before coming to study cinema in France, where she graduated from the directing department of La Fémis, the French national film school.

She now works as a film director and screenwriter between France and China.. Besides cinema, she is also a photographer.

 

In her cinema, she explores reality's hidden fragments to reveal the absurd aspect of contemporary life, through a narrative experience that disrupts conventions. Central to her thematic exploration is a meticulous focus on human relationships and societal dynamics, themes she navigates with precision and sensitivity, reflecting a synthesis shaped by her extensive studies in understanding the human experience.

She is a member of SRF - la Société des réalisatrices et réalisateurs de films, SACD - la Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques, and MDA - la Maison des artistes.
